The British government is set to progress with utilizing the entire amount of frozen Russia's holdings to bolster Ukraine's war effort, PM Sir Keir Starmer has declared.

In a joint statement, the officials of the UK, France, and the Federal Republic of Germany asserted that this joint measure would increase strain on Moscow's head Vladimir Putin and urge Russia to participate in talks.

They clarified that the initiative would be carried out in strong partnership with the US.

United Kingdom restrictions have blocked over £25bn of Russia's assets since Russia began its comprehensive attack against Ukraine in 2022. But, until now, resources sent to the Ukrainian government using Russian assets had only been sourced from earnings and returns generated on them.

Sir Keir assured President Volodymyr Zelensky that the United Kingdom, the French Republic, and Germany were aligned in their aim to advance efforts toward using the total worth of the immobilized Russian sovereign funds to conclude the conflict.

He noted that further measures over the next period would increase the strain on Russia.

This declaration comes after European Union officials convened in Copenhagen previously to consider employing frozen Russia's assets for a 140-billion-euro financial aid to the Ukrainian nation.

Last month, US President Donald Trump urged Group of Seven partners to take or utilize immobilized Russian holdings, based on news outlets.

The total of frozen Russia's funds in the Europe is assessed to be nearly €211bn.

The Russian government carried out extensive missile and drone strikes throughout Ukraine on recently, resulting in blackouts in significant regions of the capital city, the city, and eight other regions.
