Tom Clancy's The Division Makes Its Way to the Tabletop as a Brutally Tactical Tabletop Role-Playing Game

The intense universe from Tom Clancy’s The Division will be translated into a tabletop role-playing experience. A partnership has been formed to create a tabletop RPG that explores the series' post-pandemic landscape. This initiative has been announced, with a crowdfunding campaign scheduled to begin in April of 2026.

"This project aims to deliver the series' unique suspense, strategic depth, and memorable setting to the table, providing fans a new way to experience The Division through immersive storytelling and mission-based gameplay," states an official release.

Launch products will include a starter set, essential manuals, a Game Master screen, figurines, and several deluxe editions.

Exploring The Division's Dystopian World

In this universe, a deadly virus called Green Poison was released in New York City, sending the United States into chaos. As the crisis escalates, civil order breaks down and hostile groups emerge, turning the urban landscape into a warzone. To restore law and order, the government {activate|deploy] The Division, a covert network of undercover operatives. That’s where the agents enter the story.

Work on the game has been in progress for about three years, and it is reportedly finished. The upcoming crowdfunding effort will function as a pre-launch sales platform to access a wider audience, particularly in North America. Manufacturing is slated to begin immediately following the fundraiser, with deliveries expected for later in 2026.

An Innovative Tactical System: The GRIS System

An early look at the game's rules reveals it employs 10-sided dice exclusively through its proprietary GRIS system, encouraging a streamlined and tactical approach. Players use abilities to roll a handful of dice, typically between one and five d10s.

  • Instead of adding results together, participants select a single “result die” from the pool.
  • This dice is then measured against a target difficulty.
  • Rolling a perfect 10 grants special effects, such as increased harm or enhanced aid.

Combat Focus On Tactical Placement and Awareness

Battles stress placement and situational awareness, mirroring the source material. Elements like taking cover, height advantage, or visibility have a direct impact dice rolls. This mechanic is designed to reward teamwork and clever tactics instead of simple statistics.

A Thematic Health System

The way health is managed adds a interesting narrative layer. Agents have a wound threshold; sustaining too much damage reduces their capabilities by decreasing the size of their dice pool.

  1. At zero health, an agent is downed, but they’re not knocked out.
  2. They may still crawl and take limited actions, simulating the "downed" state common to many shooter games.
  3. Any player knocked down must consult a trauma table, risking persistent effects like shock or mobility-impairing wounds.

A Ready-to-Play Adventure

A free introductory rulebook is promised in the near future. It contains a pre-made introductory scenario titled Ashes of Murray Hill. In this mission, players lead the hunt for a missing medical team and must thwart an attack by the notorious Rikers gang, who have taken over that NYC neighborhood. More specifics and the complete product lineup will be detailed near the campaign launch.
