The network's Top Fresh Series of 2025 Earns a Substantial Renewal for Two More Seasons.

Last October, Adult Swim saw the return of its offbeat hit, Smiling Friends. However, shortly thereafter, the network launched a brand-new animated series with a markedly softer tone. Haha, You Clowns was heartwarming and calm, in the spirit of a animated take of a laid-back talk show. During a period often characterized by dark humor, this show's earnestness struck a chord and helped it become a breakout hit.

A Major Commitment

On December 18th, the network confirmed a big renewal: Haha, You Clowns has been greenlit for a further two seasons. This offers creator Joe Cappa a massive runway to expand upon the story of the Campbell family. The series centers on three respectful teenage brothers whose defining trait is their deep love for their widowed father, with Cappa voicing for all four central characters.

"My deepest thanks go to the viewers of the show who took a chance on the show and shared it with others," stated Cappa. "I am overjoyed that I get to hang out at the Campbell household for the foreseeable future."

A President's Endorsement

The official statement also included laudits from Adult Swim president Michael Ouweleen, who called the series as "radically heartfelt and oddly captivating." He specifically highlighted the fans who found the show and supported its distinctly quirky style.

"All of you got behind this new show, championed for it on social media, and helped it grow week over week so we could approve not one, but two more seasons," commented Ouweleen. "As the show says: 'You are strong! You are loved!'"

A Comforting Counterpoint

Upon its debut, Haha, You Clowns was described as "a comforting antidote" to other adult animated fare. Viewers found something unexpectedly cozy about watching this charming family navigate their daily lives.

In earlier interviews, creator Joe Cappa expressed his hope to evolve comedy past its prevailing cynical streak. He traced this trend to various cultural shifts.

“We're stuck in a cycle of irony that we are trapped in,” explained Cappa. “It's like we have to know we’re the smartest person in the room when we're watching stuff. I feel like we've been doing this for a decade, and we must laugh at something different now. It's time for comedy to grow.”

The Path Forward

Given this two-season order, with Haha, You Clowns guaranteed to return, Cappa may well help usher in that change he described. At a minimum, the renewal guarantees audiences a little more time to enjoy the heartfelt moments of the beloved Campbell clan.

The first season's conclusion of Haha, You Clowns will premiere on December 21st. The entire series is currently streaming on HBO Max.
