Tehran reports attacking a US naval base in Bahrain, as Iran launched missile attacks across the region in response for a significant and continuing attack against it by the US and Israel.

Huge plumes of black smoke were seen rising from an vicinity near the headquarters of the American Fifth Fleet in Bahrain's capital, Manama. The extent of any damage is not yet known and the United States has remained silent.

Airspace Engagements

In other parts of the Middle East, the UAE, Qatar and the State of Kuwait - which all house American military installations - said they have shot down missiles in their territorial skies.

In Doha, Qatar's defence ministry said it had successfully engaged several missiles seemingly aimed at the Al Udeid Air Base, the biggest US military installation in the Middle East.

Operation "Truthful Promise 4"

The Iranian Revolutionary Guard said in a statement it was targeting US bases and assets as part of operation "Truthful Promise 4", in retaliation for the strikes on Iran initiated by the United States and its ally Israel on Saturday.

That preceding assault - executed at approximately 09:15 Iran time - has so far struck areas associated with the Iranian leadership, with US President Donald Trump calling on the people of Iran to revolt against the government.

Regional Fallout

In Israel, sirens were heard nationwide after the Israeli military said it had identified an barrage of missiles from Iran.

The defence ministry of the UAE stated that the country has been targeted by a "a blatant attack involving Iranian ballistic missiles".

"UAE air defence systems engaged the missiles with notable success and shot down a several projectiles," the statement continued.

It said wreckage fell on a neighborhood in the capital, causing some structural damage and the death of one civilian.

The US Air Force is stationed at Al Dhafra Air Base, south of Abu Dhabi, along with the Emirati Air Force.
