Former Physician Accused of Assault Charges Involving Thirty-Eight Individuals in His Care
Prosecutors report that a former doctor stands accused of carrying out sexual assaults involving thirty-eight victims who were under his care.
Details of the Grave Charges
Nathaniel Spencer from Birmingham is accused of dozens of acts of sexual assault – some of which involve acts against minors under the age of thirteen – spanning the period from 2017 to 2021.
A senior prosecutor stated, “Legal teams have worked at length to assist a detailed and complex investigation, carefully reviewing the available evidence to determine that there is a strong case to bring the case to trial and that it is in the public interest.”
Scope of the Police Inquiry
The charges follow what police described as a “complex investigation” into alleged sexual offences at two hospitals: a hospital in Stoke-on-Trent and Russells Hall hospital.
The defendant will appear at the local magistrates' court on 20 January.

Prosecutors outline the 45 sexual offences comprise:
- 15 counts of sexual assault.
- 17 counts of assault by penetration.
- Nine counts of sexual assault of a child under 13.
- 3 counts of penetrative assault on a child under thirteen.
- 1 count of attempted penetrative assault.
