Prosecutors report that a former doctor stands accused of carrying out sexual assaults involving thirty-eight victims who were under his care.

Details of the Grave Charges

Nathaniel Spencer from Birmingham is accused of dozens of acts of sexual assault – some of which involve acts against minors under the age of thirteen – spanning the period from 2017 to 2021.

A senior prosecutor stated, “Legal teams have worked at length to assist a detailed and complex investigation, carefully reviewing the available evidence to determine that there is a strong case to bring the case to trial and that it is in the public interest.”

Scope of the Police Inquiry

The charges follow what police described as a “complex investigation” into alleged sexual offences at two hospitals: a hospital in Stoke-on-Trent and Russells Hall hospital.

The defendant will appear at the local magistrates' court on 20 January.
