Brian Eno Encourages Support to Send Palestinian Solidarity Lullaby to UK Christmas No 1.
A charity drive is aiming to send a Palestinian lullaby to the Christmas number one spot. The project seeks to deliver assistance to communities in Gaza while also spotlighting Palestinian culture and creativity.
A Chance for Unity and an "Unlikely Coup"
Renowned figure Brian Eno, who contributes to the track, stated that the release called 'Lullaby' represents a opportunity to support Palestinians during the holidays. He remarked the potential for an unexpected chart success.
“It would be incredible if that came to pass, yes,” he stated. “I won't be completely disheartened if it doesn't manage to, Christmas singles are a category of their own.”
Defiant Message of Dignity and Freedom
Palestinian singer Nai Barghouti, who sings on the reimagining of a traditional lullaby called Yamma Mwel El Hawa, explained the song's resilient spirit.
“It occupies a profound significance for many individuals,” Barghouti shared. “It’s basically saying that I would choose to perish with honor than exist without freedom. That is the core idea of the song; we desire to exist a dignified life that we are entitled to as Palestinians.”
Production History and Contributing Musicians
The single was laid down following a solidarity show held in the autumn. Initially planned to be captured during the live event, the piece was cut from the show due to scheduling overruns.
The diverse array of performers appearing on Lullaby includes a selection of prominent voices from the scene. All were part of the September show, which reportedly raised a considerable total for charitable causes.
Creation and Launch
Lullaby was crafted by a group of producers and composers. The single blends a fusion of the traditional Arabic lyrics with freshly written English words.
The organizers behind the campaign have stated that their objective is to raise as much as possible for a dedicated fund. These proceeds will be distributed to Palestinian causes through an established charity.
“There is no a fixed goal,” a spokesperson said. “We will pursue as much as possible. Naturally, the higher the total, the greater the impact. All proceeds are directed out to the people of Gaza.”
The reality in the region was characterized as its extreme devastation, with a vast majority of infrastructure said to be in ruins or severely impacted.
“Given that reality, a few million doesn’t make that much difference. But I think the significant factor is above all raising awareness for this issue and demonstrating there’s another side to the story.”
The single 'Lullaby' is scheduled for release at the end of the week. Additionally, a video of the solidarity show will be made accessible to view on a major video platform from mid-December.
