Arne Slot Maintains He Feels Secure and Has The Club's Support After PSV Humiliation

Arne Slot admitted that it's understandable for questions to be asked about his future following another heavy defeat versus PSV Eindhoven.

Liverpool suffered their 9th defeat in 12 games, marking the club's poorest streak after being relegated in 1953-54.

They were dominated by the Dutch league title holders on a punishing evening at their home ground.

“I feel secure, things are alright, I have got plenty of backing from above,” Slot remarked.

“It would be great to change things and secure a win obviously but if you are coaching a team and struggling then it is normal that people question you.”

He noted, “I'm comfortable with my role. This isn't the initial instance I’ve been in a tough spot but it's necessary that we turned it around.”

Discussions with Club Management

Upon being questioned to expand on his discussions with the club's leadership, the head coach revealed:

“We talk a lot. They assist to the team and for me and we have those conversations but they don’t call me every single minute each day to say they have faith in me.”

He further stated, “In the normal exchanges I sense the belief. But I've not talked to them since this match so far so we'll see.”

Recurring Issues and Squad Reaction

The manager lamented known shortcomings from his squad in their European loss, namely wasted chances and defensive lapses.

Meanwhile, midfielder Curtis Jones was blunter in his evaluation of the club’s predicament.

“I don’t have the solutions. Truthfully, I don’t. I'm telling that to everybody,” the midfielder remarked.

“It's simply unacceptable. I don't have to wait to reflect. I'm beyond being angry inside. I’m at the point now where I just don’t have the words.”

He continued, “It's difficult because I play for the team I support. I'm a supporter, and I’ve seen Liverpool all my life.”

“In recent memory, I haven’t experienced a Reds side going through a spell like this with outcomes so bad.”

Jones stated, “But we continue to wear that badge on our shirts. And as long as it is gone, we’re always going to battle.”

“We’re going to try to get this team return to its rightful place, show everyone once more what this club is about and why it's known as the top club in the planet.”

“However currently, we're in trouble and it must improve.”
